Just a short post to show what kind of thing just comes up randomly...
My daughter doesn't really need the sling lift because her arms and upper back are strong enough, so it is just in the way. Here is the short version of returning it:
- I called the health machines people lending it to us. They said we needed to call the gov. dept. responsible for paying for it and have them call.
- I called the gov. dept. They said they'd arrange it.
- A couple weeks later I called the health machines people again and they said oh look, something "unclear" came through from the gov. dept. They would figure it all out and call me back "tomorrow".
- A couple weeks later I called the gov. dept. again and they said they would sort it out.
- A couple weeks later I sent the whole story to our contact person in a different division of the gov. dept. She replied that she had called and all was being sorted out and they would get back to me "right away".
- A couple weeks later I called the health machines people again and they said I had to call the gov. dept.
- I tracked down the e-mail address of the local branch of the health machines people and sent the whole story and asked what gives. I was called back this morning by a woman who said that is a different department altogether despite being the same people (???) and she was very distressed that she could not help me. I ended up in tears but made it VERY clear it wasn't at HER And I was sorry I was complicating her day. She gave me a number to call - the same one I had already been calling. We hung up.
- 10 minutes later someone from the correct department called me and said they will pick it up in a week. That's right, receptionist lady who I cried at went above and beyond and is a FUCKING HERO and I immediately wrote her thanking her in very non-Dutch profusion (they get embarrassed by over-thanking) and told her she is a HERO.
So now anyway next week we will be rid of the awesome but unnecessary and in-the-way machine.
